Pam and Steve both enjoy cooking. Pam has been in the catering business so organization and flow of the kitchen were very important to the design. The existing kitchen had two cased openings which led to the great room. Steve and Pam wanted to open up the kitchen into the great room. The ceiling of the kitchen is pitched so that allowed for staggered heights and depths of the cabinetry for emphasis. This detail along with the charm of the farm house sink and the addition of seedy glass doors made this area a real focal point for the kitchen. The Lyptus wood used in this portion of the kitchen is considered a green product for its sustainability. It was great to utilize this wood which gives such warmth to the kitchen.

The island uses a slightly different door style but incorporates the Antique Linen finish which adds dramatic contrast to the Lyptus. The island, as well as the other cabinets in the kitchen, utilize many convenient features such as wooden base corner lazy susan, full extensions Blumotion drawer slides, and two bin roll out trash cabinet. The design of this kitchen achieved a real balance between function and beauty.
